About Club Volleyball
Club volleyball is an opportunity for your son/daughter to join/try-out for a team of players at their age level. Teams can be made up of players from several different communities and schools.
Generally players want to join because they enjoyed their school volleyball season and want to continue playing, or to play at a more competitive or age appropriate level. We like to think that club volleyball players will advance their skills far beyond what can be achieved in the short school season.
There are several clubs in Northern Alberta. Players can try out for teams at these clubs and most city clubs have 3-4 teams at each age level. There are more teams for girls than there are for boys.
There are no guarantees that players will make a WVC team, but if there are enough players and coaches, we do our best to find a spot for everyone.
Coaches try to do their best to work around dance or school basketball schedules, but it is important for everyone to be flexible.
There are "Premier" tournaments run by Volleyball Alberta every few weeks from Late Jan - April, as well as Volleyball Canada Youth Nationals in May. These are tiered tournaments where you eventually play against similarly skilled competition from all over Alberta. Dates and locations depend on the age category. There are also exhibition tournaments that individual teams may choose to enter once the season has begun.
